Joe Trahan, LPC

You feel like things have gotten “off track”, like everything is changing, and nothing feels quite right. You are feeling especially stressed with the significant life transitions you’re facing, whether you’re adjusting to high school or college, pondering your future, dealing with situations in your family, or simply trying to figure out who you are. These changes can leave you feeling isolated, misunderstood, and overwhelmed.

Chances are you’re experiencing intense emotions and aren’t quite sure how to find your place in the world. You may be struggling with self-esteem issues, anxiety, or depression, making even the simplest of tasks seem daunting. Some days, you have trouble sleeping and don’t feel motivated to even leave the house. The constant stream of "what ifs" swirling in your head leaves you feeling exhausted and unsure about your direction.

You feel like nobody truly gets you or understands what you’re going through, and you often feel judged by those closest to you. If you’re being really honest, a lot of the time YOU don’t understand what’s happening either. The multitude of changes going on in your life is overwhelming, leaving you feeling anxious, lost, and disconnected from yourself and others. You are confused about how to navigate the complexities of identity, relationships, and personal interests. You long for a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions and feel more confident in your ability to manage the many challenges you’re facing.

You want to feel validated, supported, and empowered to navigate through this phase of life with confidence and resilience.

I CAN HELP.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a certified school counselor. In addition to having worked in private practice, I have been serving as a high school counselor for the past 9 years. I understand what it’s like for teenagers (and parents) to navigate the challenges of high school, college, and “adulting”. I pride myself on creating a welcoming and supportive space for clients to explore their emotions and accomplish their goals.

I utilize a strengths based perspective and take a practical, solutions-based approach to the work of therapy, supporting clients in managing stress, anxiety, depression, motivational challenges, identity issues, and everyday life stressors. I am committed to approaching every individual with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I customize the treatment to address clients’ individual situations.

I understand that it takes courage to reach out for help and to take that first step in meeting with a therapist. Know that I appreciate how hard this is and I am here to support you on your journey toward a happier, more fulfilling life.

I enjoy being active (kayaking, hiking, going to the gym), focusing on healthy nutrition (while still being a “foodie”), and going to concerts and movies.

If you are interested in learning more about me and how I can support you or your family, I’d love to connect with you. CALL TODAY to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.

I HELP…

Middle School and High School Students

I help pre-teens and teens who are dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, identity issues, self-esteem issues, and school related stressors. I support clients in talking about their struggles, learning how to better manage their thoughts and emotions, and creating meaningful relationships and goals for their future.

College Students and Young Adults

I specialize in providing support for college students and young adults as they navigate the complexities of life, relationships, and determining their next steps on their personal journeys. Whether it's grappling with career decisions, cultivating healthy relationships, or simply figuring out their place in the world, I offer a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their thoughts and emotions. My focus is on empowering them to develop the necessary skills and confidence to navigate this transitional period, offering guidance and strategies to help them make informed choices and progress toward their goals. Together, we work to uncover their strengths and passions, ultimately helping them shape a fulfilling and purpose-driven path forward.

Group Therapy

I help teenagers and young adults who are looking for a safe, supportive place to talk about common challenges of adolescence and adulting. There is tremendous power in connecting with others who have shared struggles. Together, we explore strategies to get through tough times, to navigate friendships and relationships, and to succeed in school. In these supportive groups, clients have an opportunity to feel supported and to support one another and come to realize THEY ARE NOT ALONE. Please reach out if you are interested in learning more about group offerings.
