Chelsea Day, LCSW

Are you a teenager or young adult who feels stressed out and overwhelmed with school? Your homework is piling up, you don’t feel motivated to get your projects done, and you are dreading the upcoming tests. It’s hard enough to keep up with the workload, not to mention all the time you are managing sports, music, your social life, and all the other activities outside of school. You have a lot on your plate and you want to be successful in and out of the classroom. Sometimes it feels like you are going and going and going, and just want a break.

Do you have anxiety that is causing you constant worry, maybe even panic attacks? You may be finding it hard to get to school, to meet up with friends, or to do things that you used to enjoy. Many times you wish you could stay in bed or not leave the house. You’re feeling pressure to get to school and to keep up with everything, and it seems that no one really understands how hard it is. You are always second guessing yourself or worrying you said or did the wrong thing. Or, you find yourself worried about the future and things that may not actually happen. It’s incredibly overwhelming.

Are you finding yourself feeling sad or lonely, not really sure how to get back on track and feel happy again? You may be having a hard time falling asleep at night or having a hard time getting out of bed in the morning. Your head is full of self-doubt and it feels like life is so much harder for you than other people your age. Everyone looks so happy on their social media posts - they’re all doing fun things together, while you’re home alone, feeling miserable. You are trying your best to keep going, but often you just don’t have the motivation to do anything. It feels like too much.

Are you a parent who has a child who is struggling with any of the above? If so, I know this is incredibly hard for you, too. You’ve tried talking and being supportive, but nothing seems to be working. It’s heartbreaking and overwhelming to see your child struggling and feel like there’s nothing you can do to help. In fact, it often feels like your efforts to support your child cause more stress and conflict! You’re exhausted by the daily conflicts and stress level in your home and in your family relationships. You realize that your child needs help… and so do you.

Sometimes you go through our daily life thinking you have to do it all alone. I’m here to tell you, you don’t. Together, we can get through these barriers.

I CAN HELP.

I ALSO HELP…

Children

I help children who are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and social difficulties, including impulsive behaviors and difficulties with emotion regulation. I recognize that challenges in these areas often impact life at home, at school, and with friends. I help children learn how to better understand and express their emotions so they can get along better with others and can feel happier and more self confident. Therapy with younger clients often involves fun activities and therapeutic games as learning tools, resulting in kids who look forward to these sessions and parents who appreciate the growth that results from this therapeutic work early on.

Parents of College Students, Teens, and Children of All Ages

I help parents who are looking for support around parenting challenges in the home. Whether it’s learning how to empower their young adult to become more independent or developing skills to regulate their own emotions when their child or teen is having a behavioral outburst at home, I help parents to recognize the incredibly powerful role they can play. I enjoy sharing powerful therapeutic techniques that parents can use in their day-to-day interactions with their children to foster communication and connection. And, I recognize that one of the most helpful things I can do for parents is to provide a place for them to be seen an understood, recognizing that prioritizing their emotional-well being is one of the best things they can do for themselves and their family.

LGBTQIA+ Youth & Their Loved Ones

I help LGBTQIA+ youth explore identity issues, including feelings of uncertainty and fear. I support individuals to develop the skills needed to feel confident and comfortable with who they are and how they express themselves. I also support parents and loved ones of LGBTQIA+ youth who are committed to being supportive, but also need a safe, confidential place to explore their own complex emotions associated with their child or loved one’s identity development.
