  • 10+ years experience providing counseling to children and adolescents in school settings

  • Trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavior Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS)

  • Strong understanding of Special Education and 504 in schools

Miriam has extensive experience working with children and adolescents, including individuals diagnosed with autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression and trauma.  She utilizes a strengths-based perspective, social learning theory concepts, cognitive behavioral strategies and trauma-informed practices.  Miriam is especially passionate about her work with teens who have been diagnosed with high functioning autism and is skilled at teaching social skills and supporting individuals who are struggling with peer and family relationships. 

Miriam earned her BS degree in family studies from UCONN and her MS in clinical social work from UCONN School of Social Work.  She has spent her social work career in the schools, working primarily in therapeutic day school settings with elementary, middle and high school students.  Miriam has provided in home clinical services to children on the autism spectrum and has assisted families in developing practical and effective behavior management strategies.  In addition to working with individual clients at FVCC, she is also facilitating middle school and high school girls groups.
